Healthy Dosa Wraps

This is one of the recipe I wanted to share on my blog since very long time. But since I don't have any image of this recipe I have been avoiding to write. But today I am going to share this recipe to take part in Indiblogger's Master Chef India 2 contest.

I am naming this recipe as 'Healthy Dosa wraps' in order to closely relate it to our Indian cuisine. But originally this is a Filipino dish whose name I forgot ( No no.. I am not ghajini but just that the name was not so simple to remember :P). Well the recipe is as follows.

Ingredients for the batter:
Rice 2cups
urad dal 1 cup (or no need in case you want to try the filipino version)
pinch of salt

To make the batter:
Soak the rice and urad dal over night and next morning grind it into a fine paste just like you do for dosas. You can dilute the paste little bit as needed. Keep it aside for around 4-6hrs.

For stuffing:
Take all the healthy stuffs like
  • chopped lettuce, spinach
  • chopped tomato, onion, chillies (mild salsa)
  • boiled garbanzo beans or chickpeas (pressure cook it with pinch of salt and oil)
  • lemon juice
  • finely chopped cilantro
  • sweet and sour sauce
  • sour cream or curd
Method:
Once the batter is ready, heat the pan and spread a bowl full of batter on the pan just like we do for preparing dosas. Make sure the dosas are bigger in diameter and preferably thinner.

Once you prepare one dosa add the stuffing in the inside portion of it. Now if you want to make the sweeter or mild version then add the healthy ingredients mentioned above and pour little sour cream and sweet sauce. If you want the spicy version then apply tomato chutney or any pickle on the inner surface of the dosas and add the incredients. Top it with little lemon juice, tomato sauce and little bit of sour cream.

I am posting a picture that closely relates to the dish I mentioned here. It is one of the awesome healthy Dosa dish I have ever tasted. Filipinos like to add a sweet peanut sauce over the ingredients so that it tastes mild. But I prefer having some spicy sauce instead. Hope you all find this recipe interesting.
